Start The winter recreational soccer program starts on Monday, January 6, 5:30-6:25 pm at the MetroRec, 3110 Main Avenue, Fargo, ND 58103. It is on the south side of Main Avenue. The second session is Saturday, January 11, 11:00-Noon at the MetroRec. The last Monday session is February 24. The last Saturday session is February 29. Every Monday and Saturday between those beginning and end dates are covered by a session - practice or game -, same place, same times.
Field locations The MetroRec is a converted ice hockey facility with 2 former hockey rinks. Once you enter the facility, you enter the lobby. You exit the lobby into the playing area lobby. You will find restrooms in the lobby. In the playing area, the soccer field to the left is the MetroRec East field. The other is the West field. As you enter the East field, you will be entering what we refer to as MetroRec East #1, the northernmost past of East. The next field, East #2 is separated by a barrier from #1. The southernmost fields are East #3 and East #4.
What to Bring Each player should dress appropriately. The MetroRec facility temperature varies with the outdoor temperature and the decisions by the Park District. Therefore, dressing in layers is recommended. Most players start with 2 layers; a normal soccer layer and a layer with a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Indoor soccer shoes, not cleats are required. Alternatively, flat-bottomed or nub-buttomed shoes of any kind are allowed. Avoid running shoes at all cost as they will certainly lead to injury. Hats and gloves are allowed but usually are not necessary. Bring a properly inflated soccer ball. Wear shin guards (mandatory). Those players without shin guards will not be able to participate. Bring a full water bottle. Flavored drinks of any kind are not allowed. Wear your uniform.
Uniforms If you ordered a uniform, we will distribute them sometime between the Monday and Saturday session this week. If you ordered a ball, we will bring your ball to the Monday session. You can take it home after the session.
Preparation (Each session) Please have players at the MetroRec 10 minutes early. so we can start on time. Players can warm-up off the field unless there is no activity on one of the two playing surfaces. In that case, warm-ups can take place on a playing surface. Please be sure each player is rested and has nutrition prior to the clinic session.
Coaches Coaches are listed on your team page. If you would like to assist, please contact me.
Website You can visit the Winter 2020 Constellation Canis Majog (the Big Dogs), Constellation Gemeni (the Twins) or Constellation Orion (the Hunger) team to see who else is on your team, the contact information for the coaches and other participants and to check on schedules, clinic communications, etc. Just login to your account and browse over to your team. Fun Knowing that players play to have fun, we always attempt to make soccer fun.
